I’d like to first say thanks for this opportunity to go to the parliament and have a new experience like that to have and be able to tell others about it and to enter the competition.

First we started in the airport early in the morning and met up with each other and started chatting straight away and this made it much easier to do as we got along great.

We had a long bus drive to Colmar, a beautiful and picturesque location in France. This bus trip we spent getting to know each other and playing games. In Colmar we visited the area and were let off to see the Christmas markets which were so lovely to see. We went and got lunch/ dinner and went on a ferris wheel.

We then travelled to Strasbourg to our hotel the Origami hotel which was a lovely hotel that was well equipped to stay in. We went for pizza in a nearby restaurant and had a nice chill evening relaxing and getting to know each other more.

The next day we were up early for breakfast and straight to parliament across the city of Strasbourg.

We went through security and into the hemicycle which was a massive room where everyone was in all over from the eu. While in there we discussed political topics and cybersecurity which was very educational. After the break we went and had a debate which was also quite interesting and educational. We received a hat and pen for free which was from the EU itself.

We then traveled back to the hotel and relaxed and got ready to go into the city of Strasbourg by tram. We got dinner there and went shopping and to see the Christmas markets. We then went back to the hotel and had another chill evening relaxing and talking with each other again.

The next day we went travelling straight away to Heidelberg and to see the massive castle there which was an amazing place to visit. We then went around Heidelberg and after that headed to the airport. We then traveled home to Ireland.

This trip for me was very educational and a great opportunity. We were given amazing teachers to come with us and the other students were also just wonderful to be with. This experience gave me new friends and a new look on politics and to have seen what it’s like in France and Germany.
